Negro Baseball Players

Negro baseball player is defined here as any individual who played at any notable level of black baseball, including participation with a Negro major league team, Negro minor league team, independent team, and in some cases, a notable semi-pro team.

Generally, any Negro league baseball player who was born in Arkansas, died in Arkansas, schooled at an Arkansas high school or college, or lived in Arkansas a period of five years or more, qualifies here.

Negro Major League is defined here as those recognized as "major" by Major League Baseball and the SABR Negro Leagues Task Force. These are:
  • Negro National League I, 1920–1931
  • Negro National League II, 1933–1948
  • Negro American League, 1937–1948
  • Eastern Colored League, 1923–1928
  • American Negro League, 1929
  • East-West League, 1932
  • Negro Southern League, 1932

Negro Minor League/Independent is defined here as all lower levels of fully professional black baseball. These include, but are not limited to:
