Pennington was the son of Harry Pennington and Pearl (nee Walker) Pennington.3 4 He attended Langston High School in Hot Springs, AR.
Pennington, a pitcher, played alongside his brother Art with the 1939 Brooklyn Giants, a barnstorming team based out of Memphis, TN.5 He also pitched for the 1947 Purity All-Stars, a semi-pro team in Hot Springs.
Pennington died on September 22nd, 2005 in St. Louis, MO.6 He was buried in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.7
