Que Simpson

Quitman "Que" Simpson, born about 1872 in Texas,1 was a Negro baseball player with the Hot Springs Arlingtons in 1900.

Biography

Quitman was the son of John Simpson and Jannie/Vennie (nee Gardner) Simpson and grew up near Jefferson, Texas.2 3

Simpson played with the Hot Springs Arlingtons in 19004 and may have played in St. Paul, MN, at some point prior.5

Simpson died on October 26th, 1913 in Fort Worth, TX as a result of tuberculosis.6
3 Simpson's Death Certificate gives his parents as John Simpson and V. Gardner. The death certificates of his brother, Frank, and sister, Siberia, confirm the same.
4 A player named "Simpson" appears in the photograph of the 1900 Hot Springs Arlingtons. "Que Simpson" appears in the 1900 U.S. Census in the same household in Hot Springs as several other players on the Arlingtons, including William Bryant, Alexander Jones and John Jones.
