The Madison Stars were a Negro baseball team sponsored by Theophilus Bond of Madison, AR in 1920.
History
The Madison Stars were sponsored and managed by Theophilus Bond, a wealthy black farmer from Madison, AR and a high-ranking member of the Negro Knights of Pythias fraternal organization. In late July 1920, the Bond's Stars were brought to Little Rock, AR to be part of the entertainment presented during the Knights of the Pythias state convention.1 The Stars played the Vapor City Tigers of Hot Springs, AR and won a best-of-three series.
