Feild Family

The Feild Family was a family of baseball enthusiasts during the early years of baseball in Arkansas. It would seem that perhaps nobody played more games of baseball in the Arkansas during the 1870s than the Feilds. In fact, between 1870-1880, at least one member of the Feilds appeared in 65% of reported games played in Little Rock.

Players from the Feild family were brothers Silas "Tolly", Arthur and Ormand and their cousins William "W.P." and Ernest.

In 1875, Tolly Field was offered to play professionally in New York, but refused. Later that year, both Tolly and Arthur Feild were offered to play professionally with the St. Louis Red Stockings. Again however, they seemingly refused.
