The Arkansas Baseball Encyclopedia uses the following definitions to categorize and quantify individuals from Arkansas.
True Arkansan
An individual qualifies as a True Arkansan if he or she lived in Arkansas for at least six years of school-age youth (ages 6-18) and at least ten years of adult life.
Native Arkansan
An individual qualifies as a Native Arkansan if he or she lived in Arkansas for at least six years of school-age youth (ages 6-18).
Naturalized Arkansan
An individual qualifies as a Naturalized Arkansan if he or she lived in Arkansas for at least ten years of adult life.
Birth-Only Arkansan
In instances when an individual was born in Arkansas but does not qualify as any of the above definitions, he or she is defined as a Birth-Only Arkansan.
