Benny Craig

Albert Bernard "Benny" Craig, also known as the The Old Bread Man, born September 7th, 1904 in Fort Smith, AR,1 was a professional baseball broadcaster for the Little Rock Travelers from 1939-1955.

Biography

Benny Craig was the son of George Craig and Mina Lee Craig.2

Craig began broadcasting Little Rock Travelers road games in 1939. He recreated the games using Western Union ticker tape.

"Albert B. (Benny) Craig, 62, dean of sports broadcasters in Arkansas, died of a heart attack recently while attending the Coaches Invitational Golf Tournament at Cherokee Village, Ark. Craig aired the games of the Little Rock Travelers of the former Southern Association for many years and also at one time announced the University of Arkansas' football games. For the last several years, he had a sports show on television station KTHV in Little Rock.3
