Neale Henderson


Neale "Bobo" Henderson, born June 24th, 1930 in Fort Smith, AR1 was a Negro League baseball player from 1949-1953.


Henderson was the son of Neal Henderson and Rosa Lee (nee White) Henderson.2 He was born and raised in Fort Smith, AR where in 1938 he was given the opportunity to serve as batboy for the Kansas City Monarchs during one of the team's barnstorming games in town.3 In 1941, Henderson and his family moved to San Diego, CA where Neale attended school and played baseball at San Diego High.4 After graduation, he was signed as a shortstop to play with the Abilene Ikes, a semi-pro team in Abilene, KS. Later in the season, he joined Rogers Hornsby's All-Star Whiz Bangs team, which barnstormed the midwest.5 Before entering the U.S. Army in 1951, Henderson also played with the Kansas City Monarchs and Kansas City Travelers.6

Henderson died on December 24th, 2018 in San Diego, CA.7
