Maceo Brodnax

Maceo Brodnax,1 2 born September 11th, 19113 in Pine Bluff, AR,4 was a Negro League baseball player.

Biography

Brodnax was the son of Frank Brodnax and Lydia (nee Billingsley) Brodnax. He was born in Pine Bluff, AR, but moved to Kansas City, MO at a young age..5

Brodnax, a short and small outfielder,6 played semi-professionally for several teams in Kansas City, including the Kansas City Call in 19287 8 , Cudahy in 19309 and the Kansas City Giants in 193110 and 1936.11 He also briefly played with the independent Kansas City Monarchs in 1931.12 13 He may have also played with the Van Dyke's Colored House of Davids in 193314 and 1935.15

Brodnax moved to Denver, CO in 1936 to play with the Denver White Elephants.16 17 He lived in the Denver area most of the rest of his life.18 His son, Maceo Brodnax Jr., played basketball at the University of Denver. Maceo Brodnax Sr. died on January 27th, 199219 and was buried in Olinger Highland Cemetery in Thornton, CO.20
