Carlos James

Carlos James was a professional baseball player with the Pine Bluff Locomotives in 1996. He was also the head coach of the UAM Boll Weevils and the current head coach of theUAPB Golden Lions.

Biography

James attended Pine Bluff, AR High School before enrolling at Seminole Junior Col­lege and transferring to University of Arkansas.

James was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 42nd round of the 1992 MLB draft and the 53rd round of the 1991 MLB draft.

James tried out with the Pine Bluff Locomotives during spring training in 1996, but didn't make the club. However, he was signed to play with the club in August and hit .280 in 11 games.

In March 2008, James became the head coach of the University of Arkansas-Monticello baseball team after head coach Ron Hill. The team finished the season 0-31, but under the leadership of James, UAM progressed to 9-37 in 2009 and 20-26 in 2010.

James' success at UAM led to his hire as the head coach of the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff baseball team in August, 2010 (2).
